New Official Residence
(Chiyoda ward, Tokyo on Jan.24)

The present official residence of the Prime Minister was completed in 1929. Now a new residence is under construction by the government on account of the present one's being old and dilapidated. The main building of the new residence is going to be completed with the budget of 43.5 billion yen in fiscal 2001.
