"Yaoya-Oshichi" 2
(Mar. 29, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo)

This is the picture of new flowers laid on the grave of "Oshichi". In 1681 or 1682, there was the big fire in Edo and Oshichi's house was burned, too. Oshichi met one guy and fell in love with him during evacuation. As the result she thought the fire drew together, she set a fire to her new house in order to see that guy again. At that time, as girls were not allowed to love guys freely like now, she seemed to draw people's sympathy. And it is said that the guy Oshichi fell in love was the priest of the temple existed at the present Meguro-ku, Tokyo.
