The Pleasures Of The Table In Spring, Takenoko
(Apr.24, Meguro-ku, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo)

"Takenoko"(a bambooshoot) has put out shoots at the bamboo grove located in the "Suzume no Oyado Ryokuchi Park", Meguro-ku, Tokyo since the middle of April. Takenoko, smelling nice and being crisp to eat, is a tipical food of Spring in Japan. Meguro was famouse for the leading good-quality Takenoko-growing district through the country until the early Showa(1926`1988). The present Meguro is a residential areas and very few people know about it.
