Bashamichi Street

This picture is the statue set up at the Bashamichi St. to memorize that an ice cream has started from here. This street is about 600 meters long and the birthplace of various things such as an ice cream and a gaslight. Because the Tokugawa shogunate, closed the country more than 200 years, allowed the ships from foreign countries to enter in Yokohama Port in 1859 so that all sorts of foreign culture spreaded throughout the country from Yokohama.
