Kandachime, Horses Living in North Country
( Higashidori Village in Aomori pre.on May 9 )

There are horses called Kandachime grazed in the field all over Shiriyazaki, a cape in Higashidori village, Aomori pre. at the end in the northeast of Honshu. Kandachime means a horse which keeps standing in the cold. In the district from the Edo period ( the early 17th century- the mid-19th century ) they have grazed all year round relatively small horses with stamina which put up with coarse food and strictly cold weather in winter.
