Japanese irises in Koishikawa Korakuen

In June Japanese irises are beautiful in Koishikawa Korakuen, the famous garden of Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo. They were produced as a result of developing new varieties of wild irises in Edo period ( the early l7th century - the mid-19th century ) Samurais loved the cool beauty of this flower with long, upright, sword-like leaves, and crossing them has been actively done to develop new ones until now, which ended up with over 2000 kinds of irises existed. As you recognize from this photograph, Koishikawa Korakuen is in the hustle and bustle of the central Tokyo. But this garden is the another world blessed with flowers of the season or red and yellow leaves such as plum trees, cherry blossoms, wisterias and lotuses other than Japanese irises.
