Koishikawa Korakuen
(Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo on Jun.19)
Koishikawa Korakuen is a garden completed by Tokugawa Mitsukuni (1628-1700), one of grandsons of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate who had it started to build as a garden of his mansion. This garden is influenced by Confucianism in China which Mitsukuni admired, so the scenes full of Chinese taste are spreading. Mitsukuni named Korakuen after a passage of a Chinese book, "The person who leads the people should be anxious about the world ahead of them and enjoy his life after everyone come to live in comfort.
