Gengi vs Heike
( Fujimi City, Saitama pre. on Jun.30 )
Gengi of Genjibotaru and Heike of Heikebotaru mean the Minamoto clan and the Taira clan of samurai respectively. The Minamoto clan overthrew the Taira clan to become the ruler in Japan. Genjibotaru are bigger than Heikebotgu ( The length of its imago is 15 to 20 millimeters with Genjibotaru, 8 to 10 millimeters with Heikebotaru ), and shine more brightly. So perhaps they were compared to the two clans. But in fact Genjibotaru are more delicate creatures and hard to raise. They like clean water more than Heikebotaru. As for feed at the larval stage, Heikebotaru eat any fresh-water conchs while Genjibotaru eat mainly a single kind of fresh-water conch called Kawanina. Genjibotaru are pickier about the place for making cocoons when they turn into pupae.
