Land Caviar
(The City of Fujimi, Saitama pre. on Aug.23)

The photograph shows a field of Hokigusa in the city of Fujimi. Hokigusa is grass which a broom is made of and the place around here once was a broom-producing district. Seeds of Hokigusa become food called Tombri after their hulls are removed. Tombri which are tiny and dark green grains looks like caviar and has the similar texture. Its plain taste can match other ingredients. Hokigusa is distributed widely in the country and can grow even in a barren land but Tombri is known as a specialty of Akita prefecture.
