Department Store in Turnaround Management to Close Its Draw Branch

On Aug.23 Sogo Co.Ltd. announced to close the branch department store in Tokyo in the photograph on Sep.24. In July a code of Minjisaiseiho had applied to Sogo with 1.87 trillion of debt and the company had launched its reconstruction and closed the branches in the red. However Tokyo Branch is located in one of the most famous commercial areas in Japan and Tokyoites tended to think Tokyo Branch represented Sogo because the advertisement for its opening in 1957 was sensational. The news of its closing hit the headlines all the better for that.
