Kitchen of Tokyo: The Tsukiji Market
(Tsukiji Chuo-Ward, Tokyo)

The Tsukiji Market handles marine products, vegetables and fruits. It is located next to Ginza, one of the best residential districts in Tokyo.

This market consists of Jonai-shijo, Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market and Jogai-shijo, its open market.
The former one is managed by the metropolitan government usually not open to the public and the latter one allows anyone to shop almost at the wholesale prices.
The Tsukiji Market had a sale on Nov. 6 and 7, participated by nearly 140 stores in Jonai-shijo and almost 400 stores in Jogai-shijo. Jonai-shijo was also open to the public on both days.
