Story is True?
(Front of Shibuya Station, Tokyo)

Some people object this touching story. After the doctor's death, Hachi was given to someone, but he was hungry because he was not fed with so good meal as when he was at the doctor's. Then he went to Shibuya sta. to get some food from the station master or the restaurant's owner nearby, they say.
Some point out that the loyalty of Hachiko emphasized had the background with militalism at the time.

The statue in the photo was rebuilt in 1948. The one built in 1934 was melted down to make bullets or shots during the war after that. (Japanese temple bells had the same fate due to an extreme shortage of all the commodities during the war)
