Basho Rumored Ninja
(Sekiguchi in Bunkyo-ward, Tokyo)

Basho completed about 2400-km journey mentioned above in five months. It was not easy at the time and his hometown was famous as a ninja's village so that some people think Basho was a ninja. It is another reason for the rumor that he was a supervisor of a repair work on the Kanda river after he quit samurai.
