Traditional Crafts in Bunkyo ward
(Bunkyo ward, Tokyo on Jun.29)

An exhibition is being held at the heritage center in Bunkyo ward, Tokyo to introduce traditional crafts left in the ward between June 19 and July 25. The photo shows chirimenmomi-gami, crepe paper, which first a piece of wet Japanese paper is put round a stick, and made shriveled by stamping or pressing. It is important how much moisture you give the paper first, because giving it more moisture afterwards makes the shriveled paper return to what it was.
