Tanabata Festival: Star Festival
(Hiratsuka, Kanagawa pre. on July 7)

One of the three biggest Tanabata Festivals in Japan was held in Hiratsuka city, Kanagawa prefecture between July 7 and 11. According the Chinese legend about 2000 years ago, Heaven's daughter, Orihime(Vega) married Hikoboshi(Altair), then they came to neglect their work (weaving and raising cattle), so Heaven separated them but allowed them to meet only at night on July ‚V because Orihime looked so sad. The legend was put together with the custom to wish for improvement in sewing for women and farming skill for men. It led to mean that people get their wishes at night on July 7.
