The Mysterious Lake
(Aug. 5, Teshikaga-cho, Hokkaido)

People call the Lake Mashu "The mist-hung Lake Mashu", because they can't see the surface of the lake clearly so often. It is also said that the Aynu, aborigines call the Lake Mashu "Kamuy-to" (the lake of God). If you would like to see the clear Lake Mashu, you had better go in winter than go in summer. This picture was taken from an observation platform in Teshikaga-cho. You can see more clear Lake Mashu from the observation platform in Kiyosato than from there in Teshikaga because of the low altitude. But please take notice, it is said if you can see the clear Lake Mashu, your marriage would be delayed.
