(Koto ward, Tokyo on Oct.13)
There was an exhibition of the latest equipment for elderly and handicapped independence and care in Koto ward, Tokyo Oct. 13 to 15, which gathered about 25000 equipment such as wheelchairs and beds. Management and Coordination Agency says the elderly population of 65 years old and over is now 21.16 million in Japan which accounts for 16.7 percent of the Japanese population and it will be 31.88 million in 2015, 25.2 percent of the total. So the market of welfare equipment has great prospects and 524 companies from 16 countries participated in the exhibition.
