Atomic Energy Day
(Chuo ward, Tokyo on Oct.26)

Not many people know this, but October 26 is "Atomic Energy Day" in Japan. It comes from that Japan joined in International Atomic Energy Agency on Oct.26, 1956 and succeeded in nuclear power generation for the first time in this country on October 26, 1963. And on October 26 this year when it is less than a month since the radioactive leak accident at level 4 has occurred, there were no marine products or farm products from Ibaraki prefecture at Jogai-shijo-a kind of open market-in the Tsukiji Market. There was an announcement that those products from Ibaraki pre. were not contaminated. But shopowners aren't likely to carry them, because they don't sell.
