Soba

The plant in this picture is "Soba". Japanese (especially people living in eastern Japan) loves Soba made from buckwheat grinded into flour. There are many Soba shop such as a stand-up shop, quick and cheap and a restaurant noted for its good taste. Soba, growing easy in a poor soil, is cultivating in every place in Japan and the most famous district is Nagano-ken. But as a practical matter, the most cultivated place in Japan is Hokkaido and 80% of total demand is supplied by importing from China and USA. It is common to eat "Toshikoshi-Soba" on the night of December 31 in Japan. It is said that people eat Soba, easy to cut, to cut off the bad luckor to pray continuity of long lives and happiness by eating thin and long Soba. Soba is a nutritionally balanced diet and it contains such as vitamin,protein,iron,calcium. It also has an effect to bring down the blood pressure and recover from the fatigue.
