World AIDS Day

There was an enlightenment event in front of Shinjuku Station, Tokyo on World AIDS Day, Dec.1. Pro baseball players joined to appeal to young people having a charity auction. According to the Ministry of Health & Welfare, HIV carriers and patients reported between January and June this year totaled up to 375-a half-yearly record in the past. Japanese HIV carriers tend to sharply increase. On Dec.1 the ministry announced its projection that Japanese HIV carriers will be around 15,400 in the end of 2003.
